Shepherd's Spring Volunteers

Nestled in its peaceful, beautiful setting, Shepherd's Spring is a place where all persons are respected and appreciated for their unique personalities, abilities, and contributions.

There are many ways for you to share your talents with the children, adults, and incredible staff at Shepherd's Spring.

  • Summer Camp Co-Director - Pairs of directors share leadership of the week-long summer camp sessions. The Co-Directors look to the needs of the group at large, support the counselors, plan programs, and lead worship services.

  • Counselor - Counselors must be at least 18 years old and spend a week living with and guiding kids in the summer camp setting. Our camper to Counselor ratio is small: 4 to 1. This small ratio facilitates a family atmosphere in the cabin and group sessions. The Counselors lead small-group Bible study, games, and other fun, learning activities.(Counselors must be at least 18 years old)

  • Counselor-in-Training - Counselors-in-Training must be at least 16 years old and spend a week of summer camp observing, and assisting the Counselors in fulfilling their duties caring for the campers.

  • Mowing Crew - Must be at least 18 years of age. This group comes once a week during the grass growing season to help with lawn mowing, stick pickup and leaf removal as needed.

  • Office Assistants - Called as needed to help with mailings, camp manual assembly or other office duties.

  • Kitchen Assistants - Helping with food service preparation, service and cleanup. Scheduled during summer camps or any other time groups have food service. Especially helpful during summer camps and Elderhostel programs. Accommodations can be provided for extended stay helpers.

  • Garden Crew - Help to care for the plants in the Open Air Greenhouse when campers are not present to help with the gardening tasks. Also help with flower bed maintenance around the property.

  • Hosts - Receive training to host for a weekend event, providing support to rental groups or during weeklong Elderhostel programs.

Working with youth can be a satisfying, challenging, puzzling, and hilarious endeavor. Contact Us if you would like to learn about our Volunteer opportunities.
