Personal Tale: God's Wonders
Margaret* had planned to see some of the sights at Shepherd’s Spring when she came to pick up her daughter at the end of Junior Camp. Yet, she felt rushed as she had other important things to do that day. While loading the car following a longer than anticipated hike, her daughter convinced her to take one more small hike to a “favorite spot.” Walking through a field of wildflowers, Margaret had a difficult time enjoying the beauty around her because of the things that still had to be done at home. At the edge of the woods, they spotted a deer which fled as they entered the “Cow Bone Trail.” Together, they experienced the sights and smells of the woods around this trail.
For a year, her daughter had wanted to share this spot with her. As they returned hand-in-hand to the car, her daughter shared stories of how the staff had cared for the site and for God’s creatures. She also shared what a beautiful place she thought Shepherd's Spring was and talked about how the topic this week had been about “making peace.” In a short time, this young girl helped to “open a door” for her mother to see God's wonders and the beauty of Shepherd’s Spring.
