What is ROAD SCHOLAR?

Elderhostel, Inc. is the nation's first and the world's largest education and travel organization. ROAD SCHOLAR is the new name for the Programs of Elderhostel, Inc. Since its founding in 1975, Elderhostel has grown to offer more than 10,000 learning adventures each year in over 100 countries-from Austria to Australia, and Chile to China. As a not-for-profit organization, Elderhostel believes in the enrichment of lifelong learning and is dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities at a remarkable price.

Who Participates?
Participants come from every walk of life to learn together, to exchange ideas, and to explore the world. The only requirements for enrollment are a love of active-learning and that you are 55 or over or accompanying an age-eligible participant.

After more than a decade of offering ROAD SCHOLAR learning adventures, we are pleased to present a remarkable line-up of fun, educational,and rewarding experiences for individuals over 55 who enjoy hands-on learning opportunities.

Programs include quality instructors, field trips, all meals and lodging and often special access to areas or programs not often open to the general public. Shepherd's Spring offers a variety of programs.
